Established in 1947, Hong Kong Chu Hai College has a distinguished history of 78 years of academic excellence and contributions to societal talent development. As we approach a pivotal moment in our journey towards achieving university status, we are embarking on the most ambitious chapter in our history, poised for a significant transformation and new heights of excellence.

To support this transformative journey, we are launching a comprehensive recruitment campaign for open-rank academic positions across our three core Faculties and one Institute. ·         Excellent Educators: Passionate and dedicated teachers committed to inspiring and shaping the next generation of leaders through innovative learning and teaching practices and student engagement. We are also seeking educators who have solid experience in developing programs that meet the standards and requirements for accreditation by the HKCAAVQ.

·         Impactful Researchers: Accomplished scholars with a proven track record of research excellence, including high-impact publications in indexed journals and successful acquisition of research grants. We are seeking individuals capable of establishing and leading dynamic research programs that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and elevate our institution’s academic standing.

Qualifications and Requirements

l   A doctoral degree in a relevant field.

l   A proven record of, or demonstrable potential for, excellence in learning & teaching and research appropriate to the academic rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor).

l   A strong commitment to academic leadership, curriculum and program development, and active participation in institutional service.

l   The successful candidate with relevant experience may be considered for a concurrent appointment as Department Head or senior academic management position, reflecting leadership capabilities and a commitment to advancing the strategic goals of the institution.

l   Fresh PhD graduate is welcome.

Academic departments within the College include Chinese Literature, English, Journalism and Communication, Business Administration, Accounting and Banking, Finance, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, and Architecture. The Faculty of Business comprises three departments, offering programmes to meet the needs for both hard and soft skills in the business world, and to strengthen the ethical sense of our future business leaders.

The College is registered as an Approved Post Secondary College under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320), with all degree programmes accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).

The Dean of Faculty of Business is responsible for providing overall effective leadership in the management and development of the Faculty, the development of appropriate programmes in response to community needs, the smooth operation of programmes, the conduct of good quality teaching and learning activities, the promotion of research and scholarship and the establishment of partnerships with various external stakeholders in the Government, the academic profession and the industry.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate is expected to possess:

1. a Doctoral degree or equivalent;

2. proficiency in Chinese and English;

3. a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research and service commensurate with that of an associate professor, in disciplines of Business;

4. experience in serving in prestigious higher education institution(s) preferably at the rank of Faculty/ School Dean or above level;

5. abundant experience in providing effective leadership to Faculties or academic units with regard to disciplines of Business, including overseeing the development of academic strategy and its implementation; academic budget planning and allocation; personnel management; grants submission processes and management; and student enrollment

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Dean, Faculty of Business shall:

1. be responsible for the management of the Faculty of Business and shall exercise the responsibilities of Faculty Dean in accordance as required.

2. provide visionary leadership and direction for the Faculty of Business, including formulating annual development plans and budget for the Faculty in accordance with the College practices.

3. lead the curriculum development as well as initiation and development of new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in line with the College's Vision and Missions and Strategic Plan.

4. encourage high standards of teaching, foster and encourage research within the Faculty of Business.

5. establish and maintain connections with other academic institutions, professional bodies and industry, both local and international.

6. oversee staff management and accountability in the Faculty of Business.
