Initiated by Po Lin Monastery, the ‘Lantau Buddhist Cultural Hub Ideas Design Competition’ called for design proposals that aimed ‘to promote Chinese Buddha Mooc based on the new concept and contemporary technologies, to explore the new model of Buddhist education, to propagation the Dharma and to establish the right view and make Buddhism flourish’.

Under the leadership of Abbot Sik Jing Yin, Master Xin Mo, Mr. Robert Wang Hao of Po Lin Monastery, and Prof. Paul Chu and Dr. Stan Lai of Architecture Department, M.Architecture students visited the Monastery, carried out site survey and conducted interviews in Ngong Ping Village and the surroundings in November 2020. They then based on the data collected to establish different design proposals.

The judging panel composed of Abbot Sik Jing Yin, Po Lin Monastery; Prof. David Lung, Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering and Dr. Wu Yuehu, Founder and Chairman of MSTDI (Beijing).The adjudication was successfully held on 19 February 2021 at the College, where students presented their projects and received comments from the jurors. The adjudication result would be announced in the prize presentation ceremony scheduled for 2nd quarter of this year.
