The Student Affairs Office will hold a series of Inclusion Festival activities from October to November to promote a culture of inclusion on campus, aiming to remove barriers, foster equal participation, and build an atmosphere of respect and tolerance.
Among the activities, the Russian Dolls (матрёшка) Workshop will introduce students to traditional Russian handicraft culture. Russian dolls are made up of multiple painted hollow wooden dolls, nested one inside another, sometimes as many as a dozen or more. The traditional design is a young woman wearing traditional Russian dress, and the name comes from "Matryona," a common female name in rural areas. This workshop will teach the techniques of painting traditional Russian nesting dolls, introduce the history of Russian handicrafts, and explain colour coordination and mixing. Through the workshop, students can learn about the characteristics of Russian culture, learn to accept classmates of different cultural backgrounds and nationalities, and promote cultural inclusion.
