A1: According to the Education Bureau (EDB), LOCAL STUDENTS, for the purpose of admission to post-secondary programmes, are defined as follows:
The student is a holder of:
LS1 HKID Card (Permanent)
LS2 Documents issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR showing right to land / right of abode in Hong Kong
LS3 One-way Permit for entry to Hong Kong
LS4 Full-time employment visa / work permit
LS5 Dependant visa / entry permit (for students who were below 18 years old) Note:Students holding dependant visa / entry permit who were below 18 years old when they were issued with such visa / entry permit by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR.
LS6 Visa / Entry permit for Quality Migrant Admission Scheme
LS7 Visa / Entry permit for Capital Investment Entrant Scheme
LS8 Visa / Entry permit for Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents
LS9 Visa label for unconditional stay

Q2: What are the entry requirements for undergraduate programmes?

A2: Students holding the HKDSE qualification should meet the entry requirements of
(1) level 3 in Chinese Language;
(2) level 3 in English Language;
(3) level 2 in Mathematics;
(4) Attained in Citizenship and Social Development; and
(5) level 2 in one elective subject.

Q3: What type of undergraduate programmes do the College offer?

A3: The College offers 4-year undergraduate programmes in various disciplines. Please visit the Undergraduate Programmes page for more information.

Q4: Which programmes are subsidized by the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP)? How do I apply?

A4: Local applicants applying for Year 1 entry to the following programmes subsidized by SSSDP are required to submit their applications through JUPAS:
Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Architecture (JSSC02)

Q5: I am a current year HKDSE candidate. How should I apply to your self-financing undergraduate programmes?

A5: For self-financing undergraduate programmes, current year HKDSE candidates may apply through the online application system at https://apply.chuhai.edu.hk/.

Applicants may also apply through the Electronic Advanced Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (EAPP) at https://www.eapp.gov.hk/.

Q6: I will take Mathematics extended part M1 in HKDSE. Would you consider M1 as an elective?

A6: Besides Category A elective subjects, Mathematics extended part modules (M1/M2) can also be used to meet the elective requirement. If students take both M1 and M2, they are counted as one subject only.

Q7: I am a non-Chinese speaking student. May I use alternative qualifications in Chinese Language to meet the HKDSE Chinese Language requirements?

A7: Non-Chinese speaking (NCS) applicants must obtain one of the following Chinese Language qualifications as the equivalent of HKDSE Chinese Language subject:
1. Applied Learning Chinese: Attained or above
2. GCSE / IGCSE : Grade C or 4 or above
3. GCE A-level: Grade E or above

Q8: I will be retaking the HKDSE. Will the College consider combined HKDSE results?

A8: Yes. Students holding HKDSE qualification may submit a combined results of 2 consecutive years.

Q9: I am an Associate Degree / Higher Diploma holder. Am I eligible to apply for admission?

A9: Holders of accredited Associate Degree / Higher Diploma from local educational institutions may submit an undergraduate application for Year 2 or Year 3 entry.

Q10: I am not a current year HKDSE candidate but would like to apply to your undergraduate degree programmes. What are the application procedures?

A10: For self-financing programmes, please apply through the online application system and upload (1) a recent passport-size photo; (2) copy of your Hong Kong Identity Card; (3) copies of your school academic results and certificates, public examination results, Student Learning Profile [SLP]; (4) recommendation letter from your school (if applicable); (5) a non-refundable application fee of $200 for local applicants.

Q11: How much is the application fee? How should I pay?

A11: The non-refundable application fee is HK$200 for local students or $500 for non-local students.

Q12: Can I apply for more than one programme?

A12: Applicants may choose to apply for a maximum of 3 programmes in each of their application.

Q13: Will applicants be required to attend an admissions interview?

A13: Yes. Selected applicants will receive an interview invitation by email.

Q14: Are the undergraduate programmes offered by Hong Kong Chu Hai College recognized in Hong Kong?

A14: Yes. All of our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are accredited by the HKCAAVQ and fully recognized under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (QF).

Q15: How much are your tuition fees for undergraduate programmes (Local students)?

A15: Tuition fees of our 4-year undergraduate programmes for 2024/25 intake are as follows:
Local Student:
Year 1 - Year 2: HK$71,650 per year, payable in two instalments.
Year 3 - Year 4: HK$76,840 per year, payable in two instalments.

Q16: Upon admission to the College, what are the fees involved?

A16: Upon admission, local students are required to pay a registration fee of HK$5,000 (part of your tuition fee for Semester 1). Balance of the first tuition fee instalment and a caution fee of HK$400 should be paid by the specified date.

Q17: Are scholarships or bursaries available to newly admitted students?
