Supervised by Dr Xia Heng and led by Ir Yana Xiao on site, a team comprised M.Arch student Randolph Lai and B.Sc (Arch) students Chu Chun Yin, Tin Chun Kit, Jau Li Ming, Yong Tsz Ching, Ching Yuen Ki and Ho Kwan Ho won 3rd place in the Bamboo Pavilion • Garden- the 1st BFU International Garden Making Festival 2018. 

The proposal titled ‘Bamboo View Finder’ was designed and submitted by the team in June 2018. It was selected as one of the seven finalists out of 203 submissions from all over the world. The team then developed the design into construction drawings and got it ready for actual construction at the Beijing Forestry University in September 2018, when the final round of judging took place. 

Each shortlisted team was assisted by a team of local contractors who were assigned by the organizer to construct the designed structure. The team erected the Hyperbolic Paraboloid pavilion in a 5-day intensive workshop in Beijing. The pavilions formed part of the 1st BFU International Garden Making Festival 2018, which was on show till 7 October 2018.
