
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Stephen Au, a beloved Part-time Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, who left us on 20 February, 2026. A veteran in the fields of IT, building construction and manufacturing for over 40 years, Dr. Au was an esteemed expert in the built environment and digital tools, dedicating his talents to the Master of Arts in Cultural Heritage Programme for the past years.
Dr. Au possessed a remarkable ability to inspire students, merging cutting edge digital knowledge with practical application. His engaging discussions and insightful feedback helped cultivating students’ understanding of how cultural heritage sustain and innovate through modern technology.
Beyond his impressive teaching credentials, Dr. Au was also a committed advocate for social change. He tirelessly worked as a fundraiser for underprivileged students in the Mainland, ensuring that education remained accessible to all. His commitment to education and mentorship profoundly impacted the lives of countless youngsters.
As we mourn the loss of Dr. Au, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind- one of knowledge, compassion, and unwavering support for future generations. He will be deeply missed by students, faculty, and all who knew him.
