It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Nie Weiping, a titan of Weiqi honoured as the "Sage of Weiqi." He departed this life on 14 January 2026 at the age of seventy-three. We are deeply saddened and extends its deepest condolences.

Mr. Nie Weiping served as the Permanent Honorary Advisor of the Greater Bay Area Weiqi Alliance and shared a profound bond with our College. He graced our campus to deliver lectures and mentor both teachers and students, imparting his extraordinary wisdom and charismatic spirit to promote the art of Weiqi and enrich our academic community. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to advancing the development of Weiqi — a commitment that resonates deeply with the College's mission of fostering cultural heritage.

Mr. Nie was a master of unparalleled skill and unwavering integrity—a true exemplar of his era. His passing is an immense loss to the world of Weiqi.

We extend our deepest condolences to the late Mr. Nie Weiping and our sincere sympathies to his family. His contributions and distinguished legacy will forever be remembered within the world of Weiqi and in our hearts.
