Hong Kong Chu Hai College Marks Major Milestone with Launch Ceremony for New College Emblem

Following its renaming at the end of last year, Hong Kong Chu Hai College unveiled a new college emblem during its anniversary celebration month. On September 26th, HKCHC held the "Launch Ceremony" at the Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel to announce the details of the new college emblem and celebrated the milestone of surpassing 1,500 enrolled students.

Distinguished guests attending the ceremony included representative of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Mr. Zhang Canmin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Xiamen Municipal People's Congress; Ms. He Xiuzhen, Executive Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Xiamen Municipal Committee and Director of the Xiamen Overseas Chinese Affairs Office; Mr. Zeng Xiyang, Deputy Director of Xiamen Financial Supervision Bureau; Dr. Joes Sansay Yu, Recipient of the Grand Bauhinia Medal; Ms. Choi Wong Ling Ling, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the All-China Women’s Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association; Mr. Lam Kwong Siu, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Hong Kong Chu Hai College; Mr. Lam Shu Chit Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors of Hong Kong Chu Hai College; Mr. Zhang Yunming, Deputy General Manager of Xiamen ITG Holding Group, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Xiamen ITG Education Group; members of the Board of Governors and College Council of Hong Kong Chu Hai College; Professor Chen Zhi, President of Hong Kong Chu Hai College; and Ms. Zhang Jane, member of the Board of Governors and Executive Vice President of Hong Kong Chu Hai College. Over 200 guests, staff, students, and alumni came together to celebrate the college's significant milestone.

The lighting ceremony for the new college emblem was officiated by representative of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region , Mr. Lam Kwong Siu, Mr. Lam Shu Chit, Professor Chen Zhi, and Ms. Zhang Jane.

Ms. Zhang Jane introduced the new emblem’s design. She mentioned that the Chinese name on the emblem preserves the calligraphic masterpiece of the famous calligrapher Pu Ru. The new emblem is characterised by simplicity with contemporary aesthetics, drawing inspiration from the motto “Cognitio et Integritas”, which means “Knowledge and Integrity”. While paying homage to the previous emblem’s colours, it features fashionable and vibrant tones, symbolising the commitment to heritage and innovation. The “Pearl of Wisdom” subtly emerges from waves composed of silver-grey, green, and blue hues, representing integrity, knowledge, wisdom, as well as the oceans and the world. It echoes the college motto, emphasising the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, integrity, and noble character in global connections.

President Chen Zhi mentioned in his address that Hong Kong Chu Hai College has nurtured over 15,000 exceptional talents. He pledged that the college would remain steadfast in its educational mission and continue nurturing more exceptional talents for the country and society. Despite recent challenges, such as a decline in the college-age population, the college's development has not come to a halt. The total student population has surpassed 1,500, the college is committed to working diligently towards to the university title.

Additionally, the college will make dedicated efforts to further integrate industry and education, foster strong collaborations with enterprises, and enhance the curriculum development, and attract local students through the provision of professional-oriented programmes. President Chen Zhi also emphasized the importance of utilizing innovative and application-oriented teaching methods to elevate Hong Kong Chu Hai College into a distinctive and high-level applied university.

They unveiled the new college emblem and celebrated surpassing 1500 students. As the stage lit up with the glow of the pillar lights, the audience burst into applause and cheers. Subsequently, all the guests assembled for a group photo, capturing this precious moment.
