The lion dance is a cherished tradition in Chinese culture, symbolising the driving away of misfortune and the ushering in of blessings, prosperity, and happiness. Performing the lion dance during the New Year reflects people’s hopes for favourable weather, abundant harvests, and peace in the year ahead.
With the arrival of the Year of the Horse in 2026, and to celebrate this meaningful traditional festival while promoting Chinese culture, the Student Affairs Office will host the “Chinese New Year Lion Dance Performance” on 26 February 2026 (Thursday). We warmly invite everyone to wear red clothing or accessories and join us in welcoming the Year of the Horse together!
