07-03,2026

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government announced the 2026 Honours List and appointments of Justices of the Peace on 1 July. Hong Kong Chu Hai College (HKCHC) is delighted to announce that its Board of Governors Chairman, Mr. Lam Kwong-siu, has been awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal (G.B.M.), the highest level of award under the HKSAR honours and awards system, in recognition of his more than six decades of exemplary service to Hong Kong’s financial sector, social welfare and educational development. Concurrently, Mr. Sunny Tan, Legislative Councillor and a Director of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation – a key donor to the College, has been awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (B.B.S.) for his long-standing dedication to community service and active participation in public affairs. The College community extends its warmest and most sincere congratulations to both recipients.

Ms. Jane Zhang, President of Hong Kong Chu Hai College, said: “The honours bestowed upon Chairman Lam and Councillor Tan are not only a resounding affirmation of their outstanding personal contributions, but also a source of immense pride for the entire College. Their remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment will undoubtedly inspire our faculty and staff to remain steadfast in our mission of nurturing talent. We are determined to build on this momentum, taking the College to even greater heights and cultivating outstanding young leaders who possess both a strong sense of national identity and a truly global outlook.”

The Honourable LAM Kwong-siu, G.B.M., G.B.S.

Mr. Lam is currently Chairman of the Board of Governors of HKCHC and Deputy Chairman of BOC International Holdings Company Limited. Deeply committed to public and social service throughout his life, he has devoted himself especially to nurturing young people and advancing education. Since assuming the Chairmanship in 2022, Mr. Lam has drawn on his extensive social experience and profound dedication to education to steer the College’s steady development. Leveraging his wide‑ranging connections across the business and community sectors, Mr. Lam has actively helped HKCHC secure valuable resources and generous donations from multiple parties. Under his outstanding leadership, the College has made notable progress in both academic pursuits and campus development.

As a distinguished banker, Mr. Lam has long used his professional network to assist Hong Kong and overseas enterprises in exploring cooperation opportunities with the Chinese Mainland. He has also contributed significantly to strengthening Hong Kong’s position as an international financial and commercial hub. Earlier honours include the Gold Bauhinia Star (G.B.S.) and the World Outstanding Chinese Award.

The Honourable Sunny TAN, B.B.S.

Hon TAN has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public service. As a Member of the Legislative Council for the Textiles and Garment Functional Constituency and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, he has assisted the Government in refining policies and has made significant contributions to the development of new quality productive forces and the promotion of new industrialisation. He has also played a key role in assisting Hong Kong and Mainland enterprises to expand their businesses into the global market.

Hon TAN also serves as a director of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, where he has been a long-standing advocate for charitable and educational causes. In December 2025, the Foundation generously sponsored the naming of the “Dr. Tan Siu Lin International Exchange Center”, the “Dr. Henry Tan Harmony Haven” and the “Willie Tan Meeting Room” at Hong Kong Chu Hai College. Hon TAN officiated at the plaque-unveiling ceremony as a Foundation representative, offering staunch support for the enhancement of the College’s campus environment and academic seminar facilities. These dedicated spaces now provide a professional setting for improving teaching quality and fostering students’ whole-person development, thereby contributing to the College’s continuous pursuit of excellence.
