Architecture Students Winning Awards in CIC BIM Competition 2020

06-16,2020

Congratulations to the two teams of Architecture Students who obtained Merits Awards in the CIC BIM Competition 2020! The competition was organised by the Construction Industry Council (CIC), with an aim to promote Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology through a collaborative and competitive learning approach. Architecture students formed teams with students of other tertiary institutes, and employed BIM to design a hostel integrating different building disciplines’ input.

The competition offered students 13 BIM training workshops which attracted 429 attendants. A total of nine teams were shortlisted to attend the final stage which required the teams to modify the design within 12 hours to cater for a revised programme. The presentation session of the outcomes took place at the Carbon Zero Building in the morning, with prize presentation ceremony conducted in the afternoon on 14 Jun 2020.

Two teams were awarded Merits. These included Team 1 with our M.Arch Year 2 students Jeffrey CHIU, Miki TSE, Jenny YEUNG with HKU Civil Engineering students Tiger CHAN and Ken SLAMET; Team 2 consisted of Kira CHAN, Jeff CHEUNG, Sam LEE, with HKU Civil Engineering students Louis BRIGHTON and Edric JULIAN. The achievement was a continuous achievement under the leadership of our Assistant Professor David FUNG. Once again, big congrats to all!
