Senior Research Assistant (UGC/FDS13/E06/18/CHC)

  [Expected commencement date: 01 Jan 2021]
[Initial appointment period: 12 months]
Project Title: Coupled material point method and discrete element method modeling for debris flows
Responsibilities: (1) Set up a coupled material point method and discrete element method modeling scheme;
(2) Compile MPM-DEM program for granular flows;
(3) Calibrate and verify the proposed MPM-DEM for geotechnical problems;
(4) Prepare report writing based on the data collected; and
(5) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.
Requirements: (1) Have a master degree or above in civil engineering/computer science or equivalent qualifications and experience;
(2) Proficiency in Yade/ C++/ Python; and
(3) Knowledge of material point method will be an advantage.

Project Title: Developing constitutive models from deep learning for natural clays
Responsibilities: (1) Establish the experimental database;
(2) Apply deep learning technique to predicate soil indexes;
(3) Develop a deep learning based constitutive model;
(4) Prepare report writing based on the data collected; and
(5) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.
Requirements: (1) Have a Master/PhD degree in civil engineering/computer science or equivalent qualifications and experience;
(2) Proficiency in Julia/C++/Python/Matlab; and
(3) Knowledge of deep learning will be an advantage.

Senior Project Analyst (Ref: T02/QESS/2020/CHC/2046)

  [Initial appointment period: 12 months]
Project Title: Development of real-time cooperative VR multi-CAVE systems for collaborative and team learning
Responsibilities: (1) Conduct virtual reality development projects;
(2) Develop interactive simulation content;
(3) Organize research activities;
(4) Support virtual reality training programmes;
(5) Responsible for project planning, content development, data collection and analysis, report writing and presentation support, user acceptance testing, and project coordination and communication; and
(6) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.
Requirements: (1) A recognized degree, preferably a Master’s degree, in computing, computer science, engineering, art and heritage or a related discipline;
(2) At least three years of working experience in project management, multimedia development, computer science, art and heritage;
(3) A good understanding on virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, CAVE and 5G;
(4) Experience in using Unity, MiddleVR, and/or related systems;
(5) Knowledge on HTML, JavaScript, and Open GL;
(6) Knowledge on engineering, architecture, art and heritage will be advantageous;
(7) Self-motivated attitude and good time-management skills; and
(8) The ability to work under pressure, tight schedule and dynamic requirements.

Project Title: Development of real-time cooperative VR multi-CAVE systems for collaborative and team learning

(5) Responsible for unity programming development, data analysis, program simulation and system testing; and

Requirements: (1) A recognized degree, preferably a Master’s degree in digital media, multimedia design, computing, computer science, engineering or a related discipline;
(2) At least two years of working experience in multimedia, programming, system development, and simulation;
(3) A good understanding on virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, CAVE and 5G;
(4) Experience in using Unity, Unreal, Maya, Solidwork, Sketchup, MiddleVR, and Quest 3D;
(5) Knowledge on HTML, JavaScript, and Open GL;
(6) Knowledge on engineering, architecture, art and heritage will be advantageous;
(7) Self-motivated attitude and good time-management skills; and

Requirements: (1) A bachelor degree or above in multimedia design, graphic design, engineering, computer science, computing, or a related discipline;
(2) At least two years of working experience in multimedia, programming, system development, and simulation;
(3) A good understanding on motion graphics, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, CAVE and 5G;
(4) Experience in using Maya, Unity, Solidwork, Sketchup, MiddleVR, and/or Quest 3D;
(5) Knowledge on HTML, JavaScript, and/or Open GL;
(6) Knowledge on engineering, architecture, art and heritage will be advantageous;
(7) Self-motivated attitude and good time-management skills; and
