Project Title: Photovoltaic Panel Model Parameters Estimation and Monitoring by Using Artificial Neural Network
Responsibilities: (1) Responsible for the hardware and software systems development for the “Photovoltaic Panel Model Parameters Estimation and Monitoring by Using Artificial Neural Network”;
(2) Responsible to conduct hardware experiment, embedded system implementation; data training of Artificial Neural Network; procurement of equipment, system testing and evaluation;
(3) Provide technical support to the project, taking up project administration and carry out other research-related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator
Requirements: (1) A bachelor degree or above in Electronic/ Electrical Engineering/ Computer Science or related discipline;
(2) At least 1 year related working experience with (i) software/ hardware development for embedded system OR (ii) software development for artificial neural network training;
(3) Good command of written and spoken of Chinese and English;
(4) Willing to learn, self-motivated and independent.

Department of Architecture

Climatologist (Ref: 01/QESS/2021)

  [Initial appointment period: 12 months]
Project Title: Building Envelope Environmental Performance Optimization Teaching Platform (BEEP Optimization Teaching Platform) (01/QESS/2021)
Responsibilities: (1) Research on existing climatology and environmental performance modelling platforms, define parameters, establish relevant scientific knowledge and weather databases.
(2) Procure relevant weather databases and licenses;
(3) Provide required theoretical knowledge and mathematical models to the systems engineer;
(4) Develop required contents for the teaching platform;
(5) Responsible for hosting training workshops together with the project team;
(6) Responsible for developing progress reports;
(7) Closely communicate with team members to ensure the project status is aligning with schedule, providing system support to end-users if necessary and taking up administration duties for organizing workshop and seminars; and
(8) Update the project website.
Requirements: (1) PhD degree holder with 2 years minimum experience in climate science, environmental science, climatology or related discipline ;
(2) Minimum 2 years of related working experience in climate modelling using a range of software in relation to building design, climate research or related;
(3) Understanding of climate phenomena related climate models;
(4) Experience in online teaching platforms;
(5) Good command of written and spoken of Chinese and English;
(6) Understanding of Teaching Platform System;
(7) Willing to learn, self-motivated and independent; and
(8) Able to work under pressure and fast-paced environment.

Systems Engineer

  [Initial appointment period: 12 months]
Project Title: Building Envelope Environmental Performance Optimization Teaching Platform (BEEP Optimization Teaching Platform) (01/QESS/2021)
The appointee is expected to: Responsible to (i) design and implement the teaching platform for Building Envelope Environmental Performance Optimization, (ii) the procurement of hardware and software, integration, (iii) testing and maintenance and evaluation of system performance.
(2) Responsible to develop the system software, to complete the task of computer graphics visualization, image capturing, database construction and user‐interface design, calibration and rendering process.
(3) Participating in development of life cycle including design, coding, testing, implementation and maintenance.
(4) Gathering and evaluating user requirements, preparing requirements specification.
(5) Closely communicating with team members to ensure the project status is aligning with schedule, providing system support to end-users if necessary and taking up administration duties for organizing workshop and seminars.
(6) Updating the project website of the Architecture Department.
Applicants should have: (1) Minimum 3 years of related working experience in programming, software development etc.
(2) Good command of written and spoken of Chinese and English.
(3) Master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, programming infrastructure, systems development, or related disciplines.
(4) Proven experience in building software with Unity 5.0+.
(5) Working experience with software development and system integration with knowledge in.
- Programming languages (e.g. C++, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g. NodeJS, Git)
- Server technologies: Linux, Java, Python, Node.js and/or Express.js
- Web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Typescript, Bootstrap and ReactJS
(6) Proven experience with web design portfolio.
(7) Understanding of Teaching Platform Systems.
(8) Willing to learn, self-motivated and independent.
(9) Able to work under pressure and fast-paced environment.

Project Title: Developing constitutive models from deep learning for natural clays
Responsibilities: (1) Verify and develop an experimental database of different clays.
(2) Apply deep learning technique to predicate soil indexes and behaviors;
(3) Prepare report writing based on the data collected; and
(4) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.
Applicants should have: (1) A bachelor degree or above in civil engineering/computer science or engineering discipline;
(2) Proficiency in Python/Matlab; and
(3) Knowledge of deep learning will be an advantage.

Senior Research Assistants (UGC/FDS13/E02/20)

  [Initial appointment period: 18 months]
Key Responsibilities: (1) Proficiency in Python/Matlab;
(2) Knowledge of deep learning will be an advantage; and
(3) Self-motivated and independent.
Skills and Qualifications: (1) A bachelor degree or above in civil engineering/computer science or engineering discipline;
(2) Apply deep learning technique to predicate soil indexes and behaviors;
(3) Prepare report writing based on the data collected
(4) Establish the artificial constitutive model into the finite element software
(5) Draft research papers and prepare scheduled research report
(6) Closely communicate with PI to ensure the project status is aligning with schedule; and
(7) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.
