Instructional Designer (Ref: JCM/ID/CHC)

  [Initial Employment period: as soon as possible, until 31 August 2020]
Project Title: The post is established under the recently funded QESS Project, entitled “Enhancing teaching and learning by effective utilization of free and open source software (FOSS).”
Responsibilities: (1) Research, identify and implement new tools, techniques, technologies and best practices in the educational application of FOSS;
(2) Create, update and enhance the FOSS repository and maintain an online virtual community of practice platform;
(3) Design and deliver seminars, workshops, and continuous development programs on educational FOSS for both teachers and students;
(4) Produce video clips and conduct case studies of best practices in using FOSS in teaching and learning;
(5) Design and develop an online training course on the educational application of FOSS;
(6) Prepare the contents of the FOSS Handbook for teachers in both Chinese and English; and
(7) Undertake any other tasks as assigned.
Requirements: (1) Master’s degree or above in educational technology, instructional design, computer science or related disciplines;
(2) 3 years’ working experience in educational project management, teaching and learning theories and practices, instructional design and e-learning solutions in higher education institutions;
(3) Experiences in actual teaching and/or developing contents for a higher education course are essential;
(4) Proven experience in integrating a variety of innovative techniques and technologies;
(5) Demonstrate ability in communication and collaboration with faculty to determine, design, implement and evaluate instructional strategies and solutions;
(6) Possess strong communication and analytical skills; and
(7) Good writing skills (both written and spoken skills in English and Chinese).

Faculty of Business

Research Assistant (Full-time/Part-time) (Ref: UGC/FDS13/B01/16/CHC)

  [Project End Date: 30 June 2020]
Project Title: Corporate Social Responsibility, Income Distribution and Social Welfare
Responsibilities: (1) Participate in developing and estimating models;
(2) Collect data and information;
(3) Assist in managing the various aspects of the project; and
(4) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.
Requirements: (1) A master degree or above in social sciences, business or economics;
(2) An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, and preferably with fluency in Putonghua; and
(3) Good analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills

Department of Civil Engineering

Senior Research Assistant (UGC/FDS13/E06/18/CHC)

  [Initial appointment period: 12 months, subject to renewal]
Project Title: Coupled material point method and discrete element method modeling for debris flows
Responsibilities: (1) Set up a coupled material point method and discrete element method modeling scheme;
(2) Compile MPM-DEM program for granular flows;
(3) Calibrate and verify the proposed MPM-DEM program;
(4) Prepare report writing based on the data collected; and
(5) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.
Requirements: (1) Have a master degree or above in civil engineering/computer science or equivalent qualifications and experience
(2) Proficiency in Yade/C++/Python; and
(3) Knowledge of material point method will be an advantage.
