Faculty of Science and Engineering

Dean (Ref: FSE/Dean/CHC)

Introduction: The Faculty of Science and Engineering offers programmes in Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Computer Science. The mission of the Faculty is to discover, preserve and disseminate scientific and engineering knowledge.
As our world is becoming more global, more diverse, and more technologically oriented, there is a growing need for environmental protection and architecture on a human scale. The Faculty of Science and Engineering is responding to these changes by providing guidance and expertise in educating the next generation of scientists, engineers and architects.
Description: The Dean is expected to provide strategic leadership to the Faculty development, enhancing the quality and reputation. He or she will also be responsible for strengthening the Faculty’s numerous and close ties with a wide variety of academic and professional organizations, both locally and internationally. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis initially for two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement. The position carries the status and title of Professor.
Requirements: (1) a PhD degree in Science or relevant discipline
(2) A high level of academic achievement in a relevant field;
(3) Substantial full-time teaching experience at tertiary institutions, in which at least 5 years of high-level administrative and managerial experience;
(4) A solid background in undertaking research;
(5) Strong competency and proven experience in managing human and financial resources, budgeting, staff recruitment, and alumni relations
(6) Good knowledge of local and overseas higher educational environment
(7) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and
(8) Good networks in both academic and the profession at regional and international levels

Faculty of Business

Dean (Ref: FOB/Dean/CHC)

Description: The Dean of Faculty of Business is responsible for providing overall effective leadership in the management and development of the Faculty, the development of appropriate programmes in response to community needs, the smooth operation of programmes, the conduct of good quality teaching and learning activities, the promotion of research and scholarship and the establishment of partnerships with various external stakeholders in the Government, the academic profession and the industry.
Requirements: (1) a Doctoral degree or equivalent;
(2) proficiency in Chinese and English;
(3) a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research and service commensurate with that of an associate professor, in disciplines of Business;
(4) experience in serving in prestigious higher education institution(s) preferably at the rank of Faculty/ School Dean or above level;
(5) abundant experience in providing effective leadership to Faculties or academic units with regard to disciplines of Business, including overseeing the development of academic strategy and its implementation; academic budget planning and allocation; personnel management; grants submission processes and management; and student enrollment
Major Duties & Responsibilities (1) be responsible for the management of the Faculty of Business and shall exercise the responsibilities of Faculty Dean in accordance as required.
(2) provide visionary leadership and direction for the Faculty of Business, including formulating annual development plans and budget for the Faculty in accordance with the College practices.
(3) lead the curriculum development as well as initiation and development of new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in line with the College's Vision and Missions and Strategic Plan.
(4) encourage high standards of teaching, foster and encourage research within the Faculty of Business.
(5) establish and maintain connections with other academic institutions, professional bodies and industry, both local and international.
(6) oversee staff management and accountability in the Faculty of Business.

Description: The Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is responsible for providing overall effective leadership in the management and development of the Faculty, the development of appropriate programmes in response to community needs, the smooth operation of programmes, the conduct of good quality teaching and learning activities, the promotion of research and scholarship and the establishment of partnerships with various external stakeholders in the Government, the academic profession and the industry.
