Assistant Librarian (Ref: LIB/AL/CHC/2043)

Responsibilities: (1) ensure Library’s resources and services are able to meet learning, teaching and research needs;
(2) support collection development of printed and online resources;
(3) develop close partnership with publishers and resources providers and keep abreast of the latest trends in electronic resources including online books and journals;
(4) promote library’s services and resources via various channels and engage with the academic and student communities to evaluate users’ needs;
(5) advise and support faculties on dissemination and preservation of research output, enhance research impact, and use bibliographical citation management tools;
(6) implement College’s policies in acquiring books, journals, periodicals and e-materials;
(7) supervise paraprofessional staff in circulation, cataloging, classification and organization of learning resource materials to assure maximum accessibility and usefulness; and
(8) carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the Vice President (Academic)
Requirements: (1) A recognized university degree and professional qualification in librarianship (MLS or equivalent) with 2-5 years of post-qualification experience and supervisory responsibilities;
(2) Good planning and organizational skills;
(3) Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively and collegially with colleaguesy;
(4) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Chinese; and
(5) Demonstrable professionalism with strong motivation, innovation, flexibility and commitment.

Library Assistant (Ref: LIB/LA/2105/CHC)

Responsibilities: (1) Assist in cataloguing and processing of library materials in various formats;
(2) Maintain metadata standards for library materials;
(3) Provide circulation / information services to library users;
(4) Assist in placing orders and processing invoices for library acquisitions;
(5) Assist users in the use of library services, resources and facilities;
(6) Perform counter and shift duties on regular basis, including evenings and weekends; and
(8) Carry out other duties as assigned by the Librarian or his/her delegates.
Requirements: (1) A recognised certificate or diploma in Library Studies; or;
(2) Grade E or above in at least 5 subjects in HKCEE, including Chinese and English (minimum Grade C or above for Syllabus A) OR minimum Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSE including English Language and Chinese Language;
(3) Knowledge of RDA, AACR2R, MARC21, LCSH, LCCS and Dublin Core is preferred;
(4) Proficient computer knowledge in MS Office, English and Chinese word processing;
(5) Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
(6) Good communication, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills; and
(7) Working experience in an academic library and knowledge related to cataloguing library materials are preferred.

Department of Civil Engineering

Laboratory Technical Officer (Ref: CIV/LTO/2102/CHC)

Responsibilities: (1) Provide technical support to teaching, research and all departmental activities with the proper use of equipment, materials and facilities (e.g. equipment in civil engineering laboratory);
(2) Oversee the operation, repair and maintenance of all facilities in the laboratories;
(3) Handle purchasing, sourcing and tendering of supplies, materials, equipment and tools required for the laboratories; and
(4) Assist in ad hoc projects and perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements: (1) A diploma or above in Engineering or related disciplines;
(2) Practical/relevant experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment;
(3) College or University working experience is preferred;
(4) Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (fluent in Putonghua is preferred); and
(5) Be highly-motivated, enthusiastic, responsible and able to work independently as well as working in a diverse team environment.

Centre of Buddhist Studies

Executive Assistant (Ref: CBS/EA/2104/CHC)

[Initial appointment period: 1 year, subject to renewal]
Responsibilities: (1) Support the administration and operation of the Master Programme (MAABS), including student admission, course coordination, exam arrangement and other student related matters;
(2) Provide administrative support in activities, including lecture series, academic exchanges and workshops;
(3) Maintain record systems and databases effectively;
(4) Assist in general office administration; and
(5) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Center or his/her delegates.
Requirements: (1) A bachelor degree or above;
(2) At least 1 year’s relevant working experience preferably in tertiary institutions;
(3) Work independently and proactively, with a strong sense of responsibility;
(4) Have strong organizational skills with multi-tasking ability;
(5) Good communication and interpersonal skills;
(6) Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, fluency in Mandarin would be an advantage; and
(7) Proficient computer knowledge in MS Office, Adobe DC and Chinese Word Processing.

Faculty Office

Senior Executive Officer (Ref: SEO/2106/CHC)

Responsibilities: (1) Act as faculty secretary and provide secretarial and administrative support to the Dean of Faculty;
(2) Organize and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Faculty Office;
(3) Organize faculty meetings, prepare meeting documents and compile reports from various sources;
(4) Supervise administrative staff to support the Faulty/Department for student-related and academic programme-related matters including student admission, course coordination and conduction, exam arrangement;
(5) Provide support in academic activities such as academic exchanges and workshops;
(6) Maintain proper records, such as proposals, reports, minutes, notes and papers or policies and procedures; and
(7) Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements: (1) A bachelor degree or above;
(2) At least 5 years’ relevant working experience preferably in tertiary institutions;
(3) Work independently and proactively, with a strong sense of responsibility;
(4) Strong management, interpersonal, administrative and problem-solving skills;
(5) Possess the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently to meet strict deadlines;
(6) Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, fluency in Mandarin would be an advantage; and
(7) Proficient computer knowledge in MS Office, Adobe DC and Chinese Word Processing.
