Journalism students stand out in the inter-collegiate documentary contest

Six journalism and communication students have received a “Grand Award” from the “2017 TVB Inter-Collegiate Documentary Competition” for their footage “Perfect Imperfection”, which is about how a 3-foot tall MPS (Mucopolysaccharidoses) patient strives for a meaningful life with familial supports.

The award-winning students are Li Sha-na, Ho Tsz-shan, Hui Yim-hung, Pau Yuk-man, Lau Ka-wai, and Law Siu-ching. Mr. So Wing-kuen, Lecturer in Visual Documentary, supervised the project.

“The entries this year covered a wide selection of creative and insightful topics,” said Desmond Chan Shu-Hung, Deputy General Manager (Legal and International Operations), Television Broadcasts Limited.

Eight local tertiary institutions entered the competition this year, including Chu Hai College of Higher Education, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Hong Kong, Hang Seng Management College, and College of International Education of Hong Kong Baptist University.

The TVB Inter-Collegiate Documentary Competition provides practice opportunities for media students of local tertiary institutions to shoot a meaningful documentary footage of professional standards. A Grand Prize and two Commendation Prizes would be given to outstanding entries.
