JAC students won Grand Prize in the “6 seconds CM” category of the Gatsby Creative Awards (Area B: China/Taiwan/Hong Kong)

JAC students won Grand Prize in the “6 seconds CM” category of the Gatsby Creative Awards (Area B: China/Taiwan/Hong Kong) and will represent Hong Kong in the final round of Gatsby Creative Awards 14th Final in Tokyo on 29 February

A team of three students from the Department of Journalism and Communication, Cheung Ka Yi Kelly, Joey Hoo and Leung Yeun, supervised by Dr. Wendy Chan, won the Grand Prize in the “6 seconds CM” category of the Gatsby Creative Awards Area B (China/Taiwan/Hong Kong) after going through two rounds of assessment held on 1 and 22 November 2019.

As the team’s supervisor Dr. Wendy Chan remarks, “This is a very hard earned process. We have made all the efforts from soliciting votes from the online platforms to gaining recognition of the judges.”

The Gatsby Creative Awards is one of the most prestigious commercial video-production contests in the world. It offers full-time students from secondary schools or tertiary institutions from 11 Asian regions, namely, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand a chance to exhibit their story-telling and movie-making skills by submitting their productions either as individuals or as teams. Contesting individuals or teams of these 11 regions are divided into four areas: Areas A, B, C and D, and the Grand Prize winner of each Area is eligible for entering the final round in Tokyo. The award-winning commercial of the final round will be broadcast in Japan.
