“Symbiosis of Social Innovation and Urban Sustainability” Thematic Seminar for Urban Renewal Fund (URF) 10th anniversary on 20 Nov 2021
As part of the events to celebrate Urban Renewal Fund’s 10th Anniversary, the Department of Architecture is collaborating with HKSKH Lady MacLehouse Centre to organize a thematic seminar “Symbiosis of Social Innovation and Urban Sustainability” at Fabrica of the Mills (Tsuen Wan) on 20 Nov 2021. The seminar and the guided tour on the next day intend to spin off from the anniversary’s main theme “Connecting Communities for Sustainable Urban Renewal: Innovations and Inspirations” to reveal the intrinsic relationship between urban renewal (hardware) and social innovation (software).
The seminar brings together scholars and practitioners in the field of urbanism, architecture, design and social work to assemble a cross-disciplinary dialogue that responds to the challenges brought about by urban renewal and social sustainability. Through case studies in different cities, issues of urban planning, contemporary standards, participatory design and social inclusion would be presented and discussed to unfold opportunities towards a generalist practice approach that goes beyond the conventional, specialist-driven urban renewal process.
On the second day (21st Nov 2021), project staff from Kung Yung Koon would like to share their work on multi- culture programs and hardware renovation through community walk, tour, dialogues with service users with multi-culture background, in order to implement heritage preservation and district revitalization.
It will be of interest to the stakeholders of the above-mentioned fields, students and general public. You’re welcome to register through the following:
