Architecture Staff and Students Visit the Department of Architecture,
Dankook University, Korea
Faculty members and students of the Department of Architecture
of the Department of Architecture visited Korea from 20th to 24th
April 2006 including an academic interflow with their counterparts
in Dankook University of Korea. The visit was regarded as part of
the International Visiting Programme which is in line with the vision
and mission of the College to flourish students' international perspective,
staff development and international academic interplay.
As prominent regions of the 'Pacific Rim', both Hong Kong and Korea
are confronting challenges of the 21st Century in various aspects
as architectural education and practice play a substantial role
in the shaping of the rapidly-evolving built environment in Asia.

Traditional, modern and contemporary architecture in Korea were
included in the visit and our faculty members and students have
visited some leading architectural practices in Korea as well.
During the interflow with Dankook University, faculty members and
students of both schools were invited to share ideas, accomplishments
as well as difficulties in meeting the emerging challenges of architectural
education in Asia. And the visit was also taken as an important
step to further consolidate the exchange programme between the College
and Dankook University which will be launched in September 2006.
We are delighted to receive the hospitality of Dankook University
and their enthusiastic sharing. It laid an important milestone for
further development and cooperation in a wide range of areas. We
would like to convey our appreciation to Dankook University faculty
members and students who devoted their resources to such a fruitful
visit.
