Faculty members and students of the Department of Journalism and Communications visited Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou from March 30 to April 4 2005. The visit was led by Professor Huang-fu Ho Wang, Professor Or Tat Kwan and Mr. Shen Yan Xiong, Deputy Division Chief of the Taiwan Affairs Department of The Liaison Office of The Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR. We have visited Shanghia Media Group, Shanghai Dragon TV and the WenHui Xinmin United Press Group ( 上 海 文 廣 新 聞 傳 媒 集 團 、 東 方 衛 視 等 及 上 海 文 匯 新 晚 報 業 集 團). We were delighted to have a meeting with the President and Editor-in-Chief of the WenHui Xinmin United Press Group, Mr. Hu Jin Jun. His knowledge and enthusiastic in journalism enlightened and widen our understanding on the latest development of the printed media in Shanghai. We have also visited the Journalism School of Fudan University (復 旦 大 學). Fudan and our school have established a scholarly exchange programme since 2002. Our students are delighted to have a reunion with their professors in Shanghai including Professor Hunag Hu and Professor Ye Chang Qian, who have visited Chu Hai in the past as visiting professors. We are highly appreciative of their warm hospitality and enthusiastic sharing of their experience at Fudan University. After visiting the news and media organizations and the School
of Journalism at Fundan University, all of our faulty members and
students felt the trip was highly successful in providing the chance
to learn new perspectives on the development of media and journalism
education in Shanghai.
