The Press Conference on College Development
「珠 海 學 院 成 立 」記 者 招 待 會
The establishment of Chu Hai College of Higher Education 珠 海
學 院 was announced and as well the future development of the College
was briefly introduced to the public at the press conference on
8th November 2004.
Chu Hai College of Higher Education 珠 海 學 院 is registered and
established under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320)
with the advantages of its 57 years tradition of quality education
excellence. The College is approved to award Bachelor degrees of
its seven accredited programmes in various fields such as arts,
social science, technology, architecture, engineering, and commerce.
The degree programmes are:
- BA (Hons) in Chinese Literature
- BA (Hons) in Journalism & Communication
- BCom (Hons) in Accounting & Banking
- BBA (Hons)
- BEng in Civil Engineering
- BSc (Hons) in Architecture
- BSc in Computer Science
- ASc in Computer Science
At the press conference, Professor Chang Chung Nan, President of
the College, announced that pursuant to the Post Secondary Colleges
Ordinance, the Chief Executive in Council granted approval for Chu
Hai College of Higher Education 珠 海 學 院 to award degrees for
the accredited programmes in October 2004.
President Chang tells with optimism to the reporters that he expects
the College to be a private university in the coming few years.
President Chang also points out that the College is on the list
as one of the twelve higher education institutions in the HKSAR
with powers to award bachelors, according to the Memorandum of Understanding
between the Mainland and Hong Kong on Mutual Recognition of Academic
Degrees in Higher Education.
Professor Kong, the Vice-president of the College, predicts that
the College intends to develop its new campus located in the rural
area with great potential further development catering for some
six thousand students, and the 1st phrase development of the campus
is expected to complete in 2008. Professor Kong also says with satisfaction
that the Scholar Exchange Scheme with Peking University and Fudan
University is proven very successful in the recent years and it
does further enhance the efficiency of teaching and learning in
Chu Hai.
