Mr John Tsang: Keeping my promise to the society

"When I was working on this budget, I was trying to keep my promise to the society.... and I will get the job done," John Tsang Chun-Wah, the Financial Secretary said in the March episode of The Hot Dialogue, adding that the budget aims at serving the public and fulfilling his responsibility.

This popular budget is said to have also granted the popularity of Tsang. "The popularity reflects the public satisfaction with the whole team of the Government, Tsang said. Tsang also expressed his appreciation to the former Chief Executive Tung Chee-Hwa and former Financial Secretary Anthony Leung Kam-Chung for their courage in carrying out the unpopular policies for the advancement of the economy during the recession.

In response to the questions from the students on aging problems, Tsang promised to review the statutory retirement age and study the possibility of relaxing the prescribed retirement age of 65.

The Financial Secretary had a brief exchange with more than 200 Chu Hai students from Journalism and other disciplines on a Thursday evening. Tsang is the highest ranking Government official attending The Hot Dialogue so far. The signature programme was hosted by the staff of the Department of Journalism and Communication.
