The 14th Chinese Academic Conference on Vernacular Architecture

Mr. Stan Lai (HKIA, RA), faculty member of our Department of Architecture presented his paper on “Traditional Clanship in Modern Town Planning: Development of Wuyi Towns in the Early Chinese Republic Period 傳 統 宗 族 思 想 與 現 代 規 劃 概 念 的 結 合: 民 初 五 邑 市 鎮 的 發 展 模 式” in the 14th Chinese Academic Conference on Vernacular Architecture 第 十 四 次 中國 民 居 學 術 會 議 on 25 September 2006.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and the Architecture Committee of the Chinese Vernacular Architecture Research Association jointly organized the Conference at the Institute for Tourism Studies in Macau from 23th to 26th of September 2006. With “Chinese Vernacular Architecture and Its Substantial Development 中國民居建築與文化的可持續發展” as its theme, the research aimed at investigating the conservation and development of vernacular architecture.

Mr. Lai’s research paper was co-written by Mr. Weijen Wang, Associate Professor of the Department of Architecture, University of Hong Kong.
