Department of Architecture - Architecture Lecture Series

Mr. Vincent NG, HKIA, obtained both B.Arch. (Dist.) and M.Urban Design from the University of Hong Kong and has been a practicing Hong Kong Architect for over 20 years. He established AGC Design Ltd. with 3 other partners in 1999 and since then the firm has won numerous architectural design awards, including HKIA Emerging Hong Kong Young Architect (2003), HKIA Special Commendation Award (2004), HKIDA Design Award (2004), Design for Asia Award (2005) and Quality Building Award (2006). Mr. NG was also 'Hong Kong Young Architect Award' recipient in 1994.

Mr. NG is currently the Vice-president of HKIA. With the ambition to arouse both professional's and public's concern about Hong Kong living environment, he not only taught in the University of Hong Kong and HKU SPACE, but also published a lot of articles on how Hong Kong could have been better-planned and designed. In recent years he has been greatly involving in advising the future development along edges of Victoria Harbour: the West Kowloon Reclamation, the Central Water Front development, the old Kai Tak Airport Site and the development of Tamar, to name a few.

It is our honour to have invited Mr. NG to share his views about harbour protection in Hong Kong. Building upon our final year students' presentation (assignment: "Central Star Ferry Pier and Clock Tower Reconsidered") of their findings and design proposals, Mr. NG will share with us his views and experiences in protecting the harbour, both "sweet and bitter".
