Aims of the Programme
The knowledge-based programme aims to provide architecture education
with diversities and interflows between various disciplines in a
university setting of higher learning. The programme integrates
both the knowledge-based and professionally-oriented aspects of
architectural education. It also provides knowledge and practice-oriented
skills for professionalism in both the local and global settings.
The Programme aims to provide quality education and training in
architecture for professional design and practices.
Objectives of the Programme
The Programme is designed to provide students with a balanced and
thorough understanding of the architecture profession, and the graduates
are expected to possess:
- The ability to become an all-rounded and versatile professional
architect
- Well developed inherent talents to become proficient in solving
problems associated with creativity, aesthetic conception, building
structures and technologies, and critical thinking on functionalism
and others
- Strong ability to materialise design concepts in tangible terms
and become technically competent professionals in practice
- The ability to utilise a range of supplementary knowledge and
skills especially useful for effective graphical, written, interpersonal
and managerial communications in the profession
- Strong ability in applying precedents, knowledge of traditional
architecture and heritage into modern design projects
- The proficiency of applying current IT to the architectural
design with the awareness of its future development and applications
- Critical minds in reading and designing architecture with social
and cultural concerns
- Strong ability to reinterpret media as a means for propaganda
and design in architecture
- Sound knowledge of sustainability, the impacts of architecture
upon our environment and lifestyles and the implementation of
sustainable arch design
- A clear understanding of the role of the profession, and they
are familiarized with all aspects of professional procedures,
professional routines, building by-laws and regulations. They
have developed a sense of professional ethics, conducts, as well
as other responsibilities
- The quality and motivation to undertake life-long learning and
research
- A good sense of global vision and the adaptability to meet the
challenges in the global environment.
