Programme Characteristics
The Emphasis on Theory and Practice
One of the unique characteristics of this Degree programme is the
emphasis on practical and professional training, which are integrated
with the architectural design training and the entire learning environment.
Besides of the specially designed programme, an office-mode design
studio is set up from which students can experience the real working
environment during their 4-year study. Our curriculum is also regularly
updated so as to keep pace with the rapid development of the construction
technology and the changes of the regulatory demands.
Such emphasis prepares our students to further apply their knowledge
in their future careers which are likely to be challenging and demanding.
After graduation, students should be well prepared in gaining employment
opportunities and adapting to the real construction industry.
Integrated Curriculum
- Integration of the various subject cores, in particular the
technical knowledge, into the architectural design training.
- Familiarize students with the real practice
- Facilitate the teacher-student interaction
- Multiple career prospects
The programme is designed to develop students' potentials and academic
capacities by providing courses in the following five categories:
- General education
- Architectural Design
- Building Science and Technology
- Architectural History and Theories
- Professional Practice and Management
In the first year, students study the fundamental architectural
courses, including basic design, history and computer application.
These provide a solid foundation of design skills for the students
to continue with their studies in the following years.
In the second year, students start applying their design skills
into architectural design. Other core courses, such as Building
Structures and Technologies, are also provided in this year.
In the third and fourth year, students study the subjects in more
detail. Building Practice is introduced in these 2 years for preparing
students to work in the architecture field.
