Faculty of Commerce

The mission of the Faculty of Commerce is to provide quality education to students who are interested in developing their careers in business administration, finance and banking, accounting and information systems. Programmes and courses are well designed to meet the constantly changing needs of the business sector. Our Faculty has developed strong ties with local professional bodies and large companies. Students have the opportunities to participate in year-long, supervised, practical research and development projects with companies from the local business sector.

Degree Programmes Fully Recognized by the Hong Kong Government

The degree programmes leading to the
Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons),
Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Accounting and Banking,
BBA (Hons) in Finance, and
BBA (Hons) in Business Information Systems
are accredited by the HKCAA, which are fully recognized by the Hong Kong Government.

Department of Business Administration
The courses offered by this Department provide a broad training by preparing students for leadership and responsibilities in the business world. The courses give an in-depth and balanced training which emphasises the important aspects of business administration including personnel, finance, marketing, and production management. There is also a focus on modern management strategies and e-commerce adaptability for a rapidly changing business world.

Department of Accounting and Banking
The courses offered by the Department provide students with professional training to pursue a career in Accounting or Banking. The programme provides students with the necessary skills and qualifications to meet the needs of the business environment of Hong Kong and overseas, including exemptions in professional examinations.

Department of Business Information Systems
The Department trains students to apply IT, combined with business expertise, as tools for the efficient running of business operations. In addition to this knowledge, they can enhance and consolidate their ability with hands-on experience by means of a year-long, supervised, management information system project in local companies to boost their productivity and the efficiency of their administration.

Department of Finance
The Department strengthens the students' ability to create professional opportunities in the world of fast-changing knowledge-based economy. Graduates may successfully enter careers as financial specialists in multi-national corporations in manufacturing, property management, international fund management and management consultancy. The programme prepares students to achieve professional recognition including the Chartered Financial Analyst Programme, and the Hong Kong Securities Institute, etc.
