Course Description Scholarly Activities

The Programme is designed with a five-fold structure with different course requirements as follows:

  • College-wide Requirements (CR) - providing foundation knowledge in humanities and social studies, in language and communication skills, culture, history, and physical education
  • Faculty Requirements (FR) - emphasizing fundamental concepts in economics, business, and mathematics for the preparation of advanced courses in the students' chosen field within the Faculty of Commerce
  • Departmental Requirements (DR) - emphasizing more advanced knowledge and concepts in Business Information Systems
  • Technical Electives (TE) - providing choices for more specialized knowledge and concepts related to IT.
  • Elective Courses (EC) - including all elective courses within the Faculty of Commerce or free elective chosen across faculties.

Information Systems
Courses in the Information Systems group provide students with the knowledge in analyzing and designing various kinds of information systems in business area. Besides, Technology group introduces students the knowledge of programming skills, the web systems, and networking.

Business and Management
The Business and Management group includes foundation courses as well as mathematics knowledge for preparing students to possess general knowledge in business and management.

Accounting and Finance
In the Accounting and Finance subject group, accounting courses provide students with a solid foundation of the conceptual framework in accounting while the finance courses assist all students to understand the financial aspects of a business organization. Students will therefore be able to interpret, analyses financial information which can assist the business decision-making process.

Logisitics
Courses in the Logistics group mainly help students to build up their knowledge of logistics and customer relationship management.

Projects
There is also a Project group, which helps students consolidate and apply their knowledge in real situations, acquire research skills and develop their self-learning ability.

All these courses serve as a solid platform for students to develop their business analytical and programming skills, preparing them to pursue further postgraduate education and research.
