Programme Aims and Objectives
Aims of the Programme
The Programme provides students with a broad-based and highly flexible
curriculum with integrated IT and management elements, allowing
them to develop their professional careers in Information Systems.
The curriculum focuses on the application of information technology
to develop and implement information systems for providing well-performed
and secure services in all business-related areas, with particular
emphasis on the Hong Kong and worldwide context. The Programme aims
to provide students with:
- An all-round education with solid theoretical knowledge, analytical
techniques, problem solving skills and practical experiences in
business and information systems and technology
- Knowledge and skills to develop information systems related
to business management, accounting, finance and logistics
- Better employability in IT management career of all business
sectors
- The requisite knowledge and self-learning ability for facing
challenges in the rapid development of IT on business, administrative
and Enterprise Information Management (EIM) applications
- Knowledge and skills to become technically competent information
systems professionals
- A thorough understanding of business operations
- Solid theoretical knowledge on business and management to pursue
post-graduate studies or research
- A good sense of professional ethics, social responsibility and
commitment.
Objectives of the Programme
The main objectives of the Programme are to equip students with
in-depth theoretical knowledge, analytical techniques and problem
solving skills, and practical experience in both business and IT.
The objectives of the Programme are to equip students with:
- Professional knowledge and skills in the application of IT to
support and enhance the efficiency of business operations
- Broad theoretical knowledge of the elements in business and
management
- Knowledge of logistics for developing IT systems in customer
relationship management and supply chain management, etc.
- Knowledge of accounting and finance to support the users in
transaction maintenance, costing & budgeting analysis, financial
analysis, and forecasting
- Ability to develop well-structured information systems based
on sound software engineering practices and system analysis approaches,
which include project management, systems verification and validation
and quality assurance and implementation.
- Practical experiences in developing real life information systems
through a complete development cycle
- Good inter-personal and communication skills to act as a bridge
between the users and the system programmers or engineers
- A good sense of professional ethics, integrity and social responsibility
as self- disciplined professionals.
