Programme Characteristics

General education serves to enhance students' language proficiency and historical knowledge about China, aiming at strengthening the students' generic skills.

Students are trained with up-to-date theories of media in the courses of Journalism core and Communication core before they can develop specific professional expertise in print media or electronic media.

Social science fundamentals help students to relate mass media to society at large and encourage them to develop the ability to criticize media practice. Courses in this discipline are designed to prepare students for further postgraduate education and research.

Chinese contextual communication brings media practice within the context of Greater China that opens a career prospect for our graduates to work in the Chinese-speaking areas besides local employment opportunity.

Internship Scheme

Our local and overseas summer internship programme starts for students after the completion of their third year of study. The internship jump-starts students' careers by introducing them to the media profession at an early stage. Throughout the internship period, students not only develop their interests in their chosen professional stream, but also build up the interpersonal skills. The internship can further develop the students' sense of professionalism and spirit of team-work which are all important to their future careers. It also provides an opportunity for students to consolidate theories and apply knowledge in practice.

The internship in Taiwan usually lasts for one month, whereas for local and other overseas internship, the period extends for two month.
