Aims and Objectives
|
Aims of the Programme
The Journalism and Communication degree programme is designed to provide
quality education to students for working in the field of journalism and
communication and to prepare them to further their interests in postgraduate
study and research. It aims to provide professional knowledge of journalism
and communication to students, in which theories are tightly coupled with
practical skills, especially for print media and electronic media. A strong
emphasis is placed on nurturing students' global vision and adaptability
in the ever-changing media environment as well as developing their sense
of professional ethics, social responsibility and commitment.
Objectives of the Programme
To equip students with:
- In-depth knowledge in the theory of journalism and communication,
for preparation of advanced studies and career development
- Knowledge, skills and practical experience to pursue a career in print
media or electronic media
- Creative, critical and analytical ability particularly towards issues
and topics on journalism and communication
- Communication skills and social and cultural awareness to work in
the global environment with an emphasis on the Greater China Region
- A strong sense of professional ethics, social responsibility and commitment.
