This programme develops students' fluency and accuracy in active and communicative language use, as well as encouraging an appreciation of literature which will further improve students' writing and reading skills. Their knowledge of English language and literature will enhance their communicative skills and help them to achieve their career and further educational goals in fields such as education, translation, administration and media.
"Dear Readers" (as Charlotte Bronte would have said), welcome to the website of the English Department of Chu Hai College of Higher Education! This site has been created for our students to show you who we are and what we do. I hope you will find the site both helpful and interesting. When our College was founded over 59 years ago, it included a Department of Foreign Languages, which was later renamed as the English Department. The College as a whole has changed with the times, (we are proud of the fact that almost all of our departments have recently been accredited by the HKCAA and approved by the Hong Kong Government to grant degrees) and of course the English department is changing too.
