Aims of the Programme
The programme aims to provide a solid broad-based general education with highly flexible and cross-disciplinary curriculum, in which the elective structure helps students meet their individual areas of interest and also help them fully develop their potentials in one of the main academic streams such as arts and humanities, commerce, media, science and engineering.
The programme consists of three major categories:

  • Generic skills
  • Broad-based general education
  • Specialism in Arts and Humanities, Commerce, Media, Science and Engineering.

The programme is itself an independent exit qualification and which is designed to equip students with:

  • An all-round education with emphasis on broad knowledge base and vision
  • Generic skills effectively applicable to further studies and career development
  • Solid and adequate academic foundation in one of the disciplines such as arts and humanities, commerce, media, science and engineering
  • Broad-mindedness, commitment, global vision, creativity and adaptability
  • Aspiration of self-improvement and positive attitude towards life.

Objectives of the Programme
The objectives of the programme are to provide students with not only adequate training in generic skills, but also solid foundation in a wide range of general education. The flexible cross-disciplinary curriculum of the programme allows students to choose their in-depth study of specialized areas.

The programme is to provide students with a direct articulatory path to bachelor degree programmes in line with their own academic interest, and individual aptitudes. The programme is also to prepare students with a valuable unique exit qualification to achieve their career objective at a para-professional level in the field of their expertise.
Students completed the proposed programme are expected to possess on one hand specialism in arts and humanities, commerce, media, science or engineering, and on the other the broad-based general education and the following generic skills:

  • Effective interpersonal communication and language skills
  • Adequate kills in application of IT in study and work situations
  • All-round development of the students such as self-management, innovation, self-confidence, creative thinking and positive attitude towards life and society
  • Developing the sense of professional ethics and social commitment
  • Self-learning capabilities to continuously enhance themselves through life-long education.
