Faculty of Science and Enginering

Research Assistant (Ref.: FSE-UGC/IDS13/14-TA)
Duties:(a) provide technical support on research projects; (b) carry out laboratory tests, field sampling and data analysis; (c) conduct computer simulation and prepare technical reports; (d) liaise with different parties involved in research projects; and (e) carry out other research-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:(i) a Bachelor’s degree in civil/material/transportation engineering or above; (ii) knowledge of material testing and material analysis software would be an advantage; (iii) fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and (iv) self-motivated and well organized.
Remuneration:commensurate with qualification and working experience. Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.

Remuneration:commensurate with qualification and working experience. Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.

Research Assistant (Ref.: FSE-UGC/IDS13/14-TC)
Duties:(a) provide technical support on research projects; carry out field sampling and data analysis; (b) develop a computer based urban model and conduct computer simulation; (c) conduct research, analyse data and prepare technical reports; (d) liaise with different parties involved in research projects; and (e) carry out other research-related duties as assigned .
Requirements:(i) at least a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, urban studies, architecture, computer science, or related discipline; (ii) minimum 2 years experience and engagement in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) mapping applications, or 3D Urban Information Modelling software, or Computer Programming at professional level or academic level; (iii) demonstrated mastery of MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and demonstrate good understanding of CAD, with ability to learn new software and systems quickly; (iv) fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, with ability to prepare reports and presentations; and (v) well organised and self-motivated to work independently and efficiently under pressure, and capable to meet deadlines with minimum supervision.

Research Assistant (Ref.: FSE-UGC/IDS13/14-TD)
Duties:(a) setup of HPC computing cluster; provide computing support on research projects; (b) conduct computer simulation; prepare technical reports; and (c) carry out other research-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:(i) a Bachelor’s degree in computing / information technology / electronic engineering or above; (ii) Proficiency in C/C++; knowledge and experience on one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: [GPU/CUDA programming, parallel programming with OpenMP and MPI, data processing with Hadoop, cloud computing with Openstack]; (iii) fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and (iv) self-motivated and able to work independently.
Remuneration:commensurate with qualification and working experience. Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.

Architectural Assistant (2-3 years contract): Physical & digital model fabrication
This project aims to develop a 3D urban information model that can be adopted to simulate sustainable design interventions at urban scale; and to evaluate urban planning and design options in relation to environmental issues such as urban ventilation, air pollution dispersion, urban heat island effect, health impacts, urban landscape and topography etc. We are inviting applications from suitable candidates to fill the following positions.

Chu Hai College of Higher Education Department of Architecture is seeking applications from suitable candidates for an urban scale research project. The candidate is responsible for constructing digital and physical urban scale models. Ideally the prospective candidate possess skills and expertise in the use of following software:
(a) AutoCAD and 3D digital modelling software (Sketch-up, Rhino etc.)
(b) Photoshop and illustrator
(c) Familiarity in using laser cutter, CNC rotary machine, 3D Printers
(d) Skills in physical model making
Duties:(a) Provide technical support for research projects
(b) Maintain laser cutter, CNC rotary machines, 3D Printers etc. and the fabrication lab
(c ) Develop digital urban models and physical models
(d) Carry out other research-related duties as assigned
Requirements:(a) Degree holder in architecture or related discipline
(b) 1-2 year experience

Library

Library Assistant (Project) (Ref.: 15-LIB-LA-AD)
The appointee will be responsible to the Librarian and will carry out library support duties in connection with an 12-month Project.
DutiesDuties:
(a) maintain order files for all library acquisitions;
(b) handle correspondences and document filing relative to the acquisition function;
(c) assist in system testing, uploading data to the library system and editing the library records;
(d) provide clerical support for project implementation;
(e) record books and serials processed;
(f) perform duties at weekends and in the evenings, if required; and
(g) perform counter duties and other duties as assigned by the Librarian or his/her delegates.
Requirement: Applicants should
(a have 5 passes in HKCEE, including English Language and Chinese Language (min. Grade C if Syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007 onwards) or min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language and Chinese Language, or a recognized Certificate / Diploma for Library Assistants;
(b) have good command of written and computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Chinese word processing;
(c) have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (preferably be fluent in Putonghua);
(d) have experience in and/or knowledge of library work such as acquisitions, cataloguing, circulation or serials processing;
(e) be attentive to details and have the ability to work accurately;
(f) have service-oriented work attitude and the ability to participate well in team work; and
(g) be patient, pleasant, proactive and willing to take up rotational/new assignments.
Requirement: Terms of Appointment
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Renewable subject to mutual agreement and good performance.
Fresh graduates will also be considered.

Analyst Programmer
DutiesDuties:
(1) Coordinate with different departments or stakeholders. Converts their requirements to service requests;
(2) Web System development and maintenance;
(3) Server maintenance including upgrade, update and backup;
(4) Technical Support for staff and students; and
(5) Network infrastructure maintenance.
Requirement: Applicants should
(1) 4 years’ experience or above in software development
(2) Degree in Computer Science, IT and / or related disciplines;
(3) Experience in JAVA 7 EE, JSF 2.2, Java Mail, Managed Bean, XML, JNDI, Glassfish, NetBean IDE, Ubuntu Server, SLES Server, Mac OS X Server, Apache2 HTTPD Server, PHP, MySQL, PHP modules (php-ldap, php-md, fpdf and etc.), WordPress;
(4) Experience in Google Apps, GADS, OpenLDAP, OpenVPN, KVM, LVM, IBM Blade Server, Lotus Notes Domino 9 administration and support;
(5) Experience in Windows, web browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
